Casas del Bosque Vineyards

Casas del Bosque

Casas del Bosque is located on 500 acres in the Casablanca Valley, renowned for its white varietals, and also has vineyards in the warmer Rapel Valley, where red varietals thrive. The winery has been in existence since 1993 when the owner, Juan Cuneo Solari, a leading Chilean businessman, decided to invest aggressively to achieve his vision of directly producing the best quality wines. His passion is the pursuit of excellence, and his motto is "calidad en vez de cuantidad", or "quality over quantity." Today, the winery is succeeding at this mission, producing about 200,000 cases per year, and has won awards in Chile, Japan, the United Kingdom, and Belgium.pan, the United Kingdom, and Belgium.

Vineyards

Set close to the cooling breezes from the Pacific, Casas del Bosque benefits from early morning fog which gives them ten extra days of hang time compared to nearby vineyards. In Casablanca, 300 acres are in production, planted with eighteen-year-old Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Carmenere and Syrah vines. The warmer Rapel valley holds 70 acres of thirty-five year old Cabernet Sauvignon vines.  Vines benefit from drip irrigation feed by underground pools, high technology fans to protect from any air that is deemed too cold, and sparing use of pesticides. Plantings are located on the valley floor and gently sloping hills, and "franco arenoso" soil has good drainage. Harvest is by hand.
